A French Neoclassical Empire period gilt bronze fireplace fender, with beautifully modeled striding bronze lions on rectangular plinths with scrolls or volutes, decorated with applied finely cast ormolu Napoleonic ornamental motifs--eagles' wings, rosettes, arrows. The fender is adjustable in width. It can extend from: Length (adjustable/extendable) : 44 3/4" (113.66 cm) to 56 1/4" (142.88 cm). Of very fine quality, this fender adds elegance and refinement to the fireplace, whether or not it is in active use.
