A Staffordshire pottery mochaware slip-decorated quart mug, English, early 19th century, with early make do tin replaced strap handle attached with pewter rivets, the embossed or rouletted decoration filled with brown slip, divided by narrow blue slip bands and bordered by green glazed rouletted bands at the rim and base. A wonderful example of mochaware and the collectible art of early make-do repairs. Provenance: The collection of Jonathan Rickard.
