English Regency Neoclassical Inlaid Mahogany Architectural Ballot Box
An English Regency period neoclassical inlaid mahogany architectural ballot box with a broken pediment top over canted fluted plasters on the sides below, centered by a cylindrical tube opening where the voter can discreetly cast a vote out of public view by inserting his or her hand and placing a disc either down the ramp inside going to the right or to the left, depending on whether the vote is AYE or NO. The disc falls into one of the felt lined drawers below. Architectural and beautifully made, this ballot box makes for both a beautiful decorative object and a piece of political history, especially in an age when election procedures are the focus of attention worldwide. This ballot box cannot be hacked or manipulated.
